Emmitt Smith, the wordsmith and all-time leading rusher for the NFL, has thrown the gauntlet at his old team, the Dallas Cowboys.
You can read it here, but Smith calls the Cowboys this season "mediocre" and he doesn't believe the team has the toughness to do damage in the playoffs if the Cowboys get in.
He said the Cowboys lack chemistry and he slammed the offensive line for not protecting Tony Romo.
"Are you reading all your press clippings that talk about how you're supposed to go to the Super Bowl and you forgot how to play the game?" said Smith. "You forgot your love and your passion. You've got to bring all those things to the table."
Smith is not exactly out of bounds with his comments. The team lacked chemistry for more than a month, and when Romo went down everyone saw how vulnerable the Cowboys are without him. Now that Marion Barber is injured, and Felix Jones is gone for the year, the team is being tested far more than it had been last year.
The success of this team all hinges on how it performs Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A win will go a long way to finding the perfect concoction to mix for that team chemistry Smith says is lacking.
