Back in 2003, Mitchell Hurwitz (Less Than Perfect, The John Larroquette Show) unveiled one of the best and brightest TV sitcoms since Seinfeld with the uproariously funny Arrested Development.

Though it only lasted three years (surprisingly, no fault to Fox who actually promoted the show incessantly), it still remains one of the most intelligently bizarre comedies of all time.

On April 19th, Hurwitz switches gears a bit with a new sitcom featuring several of the cast members of Arrested Development. The result is the the animated Sit Down, Shut Up.

Based on an Australian sitcom of the same name, Sit Down, Shut Up follows the lives of the dysfunctional teachers and students at Knob Haven High. Development vets Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Henry Winkler lend their voices to several of the bumbling teachers while notable Saturday Night Live cast members (Cheri Oteri and Will Forte) and other TV stalwarts (Pushing Daisies' Kristin Chenowith and Kenan & Kel's Kenan Thompson) round out the talented cast.

Hope runs high for Fox that this show (sandwiched between juggernaut The Simpsons and perennial favorite Family Guy) will become a staple for the already strong "animation domination" lineup on Sunday nights.

Only time will tell, but with a strong, talented creative force behind the effort, there's little doubt that Sit Down, Shut Up will provide "meat" filling enough to generously add to that sandwich.

Sit Down, Shut Up can be seen on Pittsburgh's local Fox affiliate, WPGH each Sunday at 8:30pm.
