- How about that first minute dunk from Beasley? Wow. I recently mentioned to a friend of mine, that I’d love to see how much more effective Beasley would be if he had Blake Griffin’s mentality. Beasley has the physical ability to go over the top of the defense, it comes down to how aggressive he’s going to be. I want to see a lot more plays like that one, Mike.
- Although I like the energetic start from Beasley, sometimes he also seemed a bit out of control.
- The Heat were down early in the second quarter, partly due to poor free throw shooting.
- Arroyo played well off the bench, somehow adding 3 rebounds to go along with his four first half points.
- When will Spoelstra stop matching up Joey Anthony with 7-foot centers? Literally every time he goes against a bigger, more physical center, he (and the Heat) get dominated on the inside. These are the occasions when using Jamaal Magloire, Mr. Flagrant Foul, himself, is warranted.
- Richardson’s leadership on the defensive end is noticeable. On a night when he wasn’t exactly Reggie Miller, his rebounding and off the ball defense were impressive.
- Wait, there’s less than four minutes left in the third and Beasley is STILL in? Did the alarm clock in Spoelstra’s cell phone malfunction? I’m just going to hope he doesn’t notice.
- Haslem replaces Beasley at the two minutes mark in the third; I can live with that.
- Impressive third quarter by Wade and Co. Started the period down 49-41, ended the quarter leading 65-62.
- Wade, Beasley and Chalmers combined to score 22 of the Heat’s 24 third quarter points.
- Notice how the defense reacts when Beasley catches the ball in the mid post. More often than not, the Wizard sent a second defender on a soft double team. If the other team clearly doesn’t want Beasley to catch the ball in the low post, then by default, shouldn’t that be a bigger part of the game plan? I mean, that is the spot on the floor where Beasley was unguardable in college..
- 7:34 left in the fourth. First bad Beasley shot of the period. Does the bench beckon?
- Time out, six minutes left. Smart money says despite both of them having a bad play to their names in
the past few minutes, it will be Beasley, not Haslem, on the bench.
- Play resumes, Beasley on the bench. Am I psychic? Sadly, no.
- Has anyone else noticed the budding bromance between Wade and Richardson? After almost every stop in play they converse and they can always be found sitting next to each other on the bench, plus the carpool to the games. (Okay, I made that last one up, but still).
- Fine, I guess the record speaks for itself, but at some point against good defensive teams, the Heat WILL need more scoring in the last five minutes of a game; playing a lineup that features Wade and O’Neal as your only two playmakers will not win too many close games. It did tonight, though.
- Even on a night when Wade’s outside shot wasn’t falling consistently, he still finished with 41 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. 81 points in two games against the Wiz? Call me crazy, but something tells me that Wade gets slightly more fired up to go against Gilbert.
- Nice to see Chalmers play well in consecutive games against good point guards; this time it was Arenas. 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Good stuff.
- Rest assured Heat fans, apparently the ice on Wade during his second quarter bench stint were only due to shin splints.
- Solid, comfortable win for the Heat. 6-1, with Cleveland on Thursday. Should be good.
