Ayman al-Zawahiri may have just doomed his organization.

In a recent recording the Al-Qaida No. 2 (assuming Bin Laden isn't dead), al-Zawahiri blamed The Obama for the conflict in Gaza and Israel between the last autonomous Jewish refuge in the world and the democratically-elected terrorists from Hamas.

(Oh. Sorry. Freedom fighters. I forgot to stick to the Reuters style guide.)

For years, Progressives focused their hatred and ire at George W. Bush, while doing little to promote useful alternative ideas for dealing with Al-Qaida. (Surrender and capitulation isn't any more useful than "whatever McHalliBusHitler isn't doing.")

But now, they've blamed The Saviour for ugliness in the mortal coil. The One. The Obama.

This is heresy. ("Burn! Fire!")

It's one thing to attack fellow Americans. It's one thing to blame a Republican for all that is evil in this world and probably the next. But to say that The Obama can have some deleterious effect in global political affairs is beyond the pale.

He isn't being neglectful. He's pensive. Like Christ scratching in the dirt at the stoning of Mary.

How can Hope and Change and Unicorns made flesh do anything wrong? How can the Word and the Light be dimmed by complex and tragic circumstances that broach no simple resolution?

If you hate America, you can get away with a lot around Progressives. You can say, like Ward Churchill, that the deaths of thousands of innocents was well-deserved. You can, like Che Guevara, slaughter thousands in political prisons and start armed conflicts throughout the southern hemisphere while dreaming of a Soviet Gulag system to stretch from one end of Latin America to the other and Progressives will pay good money to plaster your mass-murdering face on their infant's clothing, despite the obvious irony.

You can blow up Americans, attempt to start another civil war, and, if you're touting leftist ideas, they will give you tenure, buy your books, have you help write theirs and call you a respected member of the Chicago community.

You can destroy the lives of millions of people in Africa as your Socialist economic policies turn subsistence farmers into emaciated corpses, so long as you say that the West and capitalism are evil and the most many Progressives will do is applaud a Time magazine cover of Newt Gingrich as Mr. Scrooge.

You can conquer your Southern neighbor, force hundreds of thousands across the jungle, into the sea and into re-education prisons, set off a genocide and impose a ridiculous and juvenile ideology that has resulted in 30 years of poverty and oppression and Progressives will look back to their college years and remember the good times, man.

But this - this - may be the last PR loss for Al-Qaida.
