After weeks and weeks of back in forth between the welterweights 'four horsemen', (Cotto, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Mosley), it appears we now have a confirmed leader of the pack, directly from the mouth of the sports pound-for-pound king, Manny Pacquiao.

In an interview that aired in the Philippines on GMA, Pacquiao was quoted as saying in response to Mosley's request,  "No problem, we can fight, as long as we negotiate".

Although there's a protocol to be followed, there technically isn't much to negotiate, as Mosley immediately released a statement that confirmed that he is willing to accept a 40-60 purse split, and agree to face Pacquiao at a weight below his normal 147lb realm.

With all those confirmations coming out from the two men directly involved, it would appear that the line has been drawn in the sand, but it appears the official 'sandman', Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, has not only erased that line, but subsequently made it clear that despite being the fighter, Pacquiao is not the only one who will have a say in that decision.

If the fight does go through, one can only wonder what that means for Mayweather who is set to square off against Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18th.

The only viable options beyond that point will be either a date with the winner of Cotto/Clottey, or a stab at the young Andre Berto.

Of the three possibilities, only Miguel Cotto would would come close to helping Mayweather reach the type of numbers that he seeks, relative to his fight purse.

Considering the bad blood between Top Rank's chief, Bob Arum and Floyd Mayweather, many believe Arum will force Mayweather to face Antonio Margarito - (who would be returning from suspension) - rather than put him in with Cotto, who would be eyeing the Pacquiao/Mosley showdown.

Seems everyday there's a new unexpected twist between Pacquiao and his suitors. I wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather canceled his showdown with Marquez for the right to get a shot at Pacquiao first.

Some insiders have hinted at this move as a potential 'bait-trap' to get him to do that, facing the pound-for-pound king without an interim fight, and at a lower weight.

I would find it hard to believe that Pacquiao would ever stoop to such a level, and view such statements as nothing but chatter from sources with little else to do, but hey, if we hear the Mayweather/Marquez fight is called off, I think we'll all have something to talk about.

Stay tuned.
