Only weeks after Welshman Joe Calzaghe came from across the pond to face American icon, Roy Jones Jr., another british boxing phenom invades the U.S.A. as the 'Manchester Madman' Ricky Hatton (44-1, 31KO's) squares off against New York City native Paulie Malignaggi (25-1, 5KO's).
Both men come into this fight with something to prove as despite the stellar records, many questions surround them both.
Only two fights ago, back in December of '07, Ricky Hatton came up short in his only professional loss which came in humbling fashion at the hands of former pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Hatton has bounced back with a victory since then but it was in a far less than stellar performance.
Malignaggi, on the other hand, suffered his only professional loss back in '06 to the man once believed to be the heir apparent to Mayweather in the sports welterweight division, Puerto Rican sensation Miguel Cotto.
Malignaggi's recent victory over the rugged Lovemore N'Dou, and his slick boxing style, coupled with a 5-inch reach advantage and a one inch height advantage make for a rather intriguing affair.
Hatton has been known to bring the pain in the ring but his humbling defeat at the hands of Mayweather proved to all that his rugged style doesn't parallel too well with a fighter who actually knows how to apply the 'sweet science'.
On paper, the fight is totally up in the air, but on Saturday night, the two men will decide things where it counts.....In the ring!
The fight will air at 10pm eastern standard time on HBO.
