Summer's here! (AP Photo/San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau)

Summer's officially here!  Are you thinking of some exciting places to take your date on a warm night in San Diego? Here are ten fun locations and ideas.

  1. Night at the zoo-Starting on June 27th through September 7th, the San Diego Zoo will be open until 9 pm for a slew of nighttime activities.  You can also relax with your date at the Canyon Cafe where you can listen to live contemporary jazz and global music.
  2. Sea World-By no means, do I advise you to go traipsing about Sea World during the day and get unsightly tanlines, but I do recommend heading there at night for the fireworks at least! Please check the fireworks schedule, as it flip-flops each week.  Sea World is also currently having an adult admission at children's price promotion, so take advantage of it!
  3. Fourth of July-The Reader has listed a slew of events that you can enjoy with your guy or gal on Independence Day!
  4. San Diego County Fair-Remember that you can view the fireworks at the fair as well; plus there are numerous fun events at the fair.  You can buy discount tickets at any Albertsons in San Diego and Riverside counties.  Hurry! The fair ends July 5th!
  5. 3rd Annual San Diego International Beer Festival-Perhaps you and your date like to drink?  This beer festival is also at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and features an expected 300 entries that you can sample! Please remember to drink responsibly.
  6. Hedwig and the Angry Inch-This rock opera that is comparable to Rocky Horror Picture Show would be ideal for anyone who likes live theatre musicals as well as anyone with a little kink (That includes 90% of us, in my opinion!) Now playing through August 9th!
  7. Alternative rock concerts at the Cox Arena-Take your date to see either Green Day with Franz Ferdinand on Thursday, August 20th and/or Kings of Leon on Friday the 21st.
  8. Movies at the Ken Theatre-Oh boy! Who doesn't like classic movies like Back to the Future (July 11), Ghostbusters (July 18), The Muppet Movie (ongoing), and Wet Hot American Summer (July 27) on the big screen?  If your date doesn't agree with your tastes, maybe you should reconsider going out with him or her!
  9. San Diego Comic Convention-July 23-26!  Bad news: tickets are completely sold out.  Good news: if you have your own ticket(s) you can hook up with someone who already has their own!  Don't know anyone who's going? I recommend looking for a date on perhaps Craigslist.  If they turn out to be a complete weirdo, you can always abscond in the ridiculously massive crowds of freaks, geeks, and costumed heroes.
  10.  Black's Beach Are you and your date wild and adventurous?  I totally recommend packing your birthday suits and heading out to Black's Beach for some crazy fun!  4.5/5 stars from Yelp reviewers can't be wrong!
