Time for a quick trip back to this summer's Blazed and Confused, paricularly Slightly Stoopid. I'm proud to present the stark and well-done black and white shots of my wife, and first-time live show shooter, Virginia Schad.
This first photo captures Ryan Moran, drummer for Slightly Stoopid, sillhouetted against the bright backdrop. "Rymo", as he's called, is consistently the hardest member of Stoopid to get pictures of. He's seldom in the light, always tucked away behind that set, so when moments like this occur, the image seems to capture Rymo in that way. Definitely audible, but hard to see, in the background, just doin' his thing.Click on the photo for the full resolution version of the image.
The self indulgent shot. My photographer assistant for the evening (who just happens to share my last name) decided that swapping out lenses and correcting settings on my cameras was too easy, so she busted out the film camera and got some shots of me shooting Stoopid. It's either a great shot of Miles or a study in a photog at work. Hard work it is, indeed; someone has gotta do it. Click on the image for the full size version.
The last of the three is another difficult shot to get when shooting Stoopid: the whole band on one frame. Especially at a place like Merriweather Post, where the stage is just massive, and they're spread way out, all gettin' their sway going.Click on the image to see it full-size.
There was word a lttle while back that a Ryan Moran interview was coming. Here's a promise; it's on the way and will run later this week. It's a long interview and it's taken longer than expected to transcribe and edit it. Thanks for being patient.
