This Saturday, August 22nd, The Red and the Black in Washington DC will heat up with a diverse lineup of musical meanderers.
The evening will start off with the second live appearance of Sweet Tea Pumpkin Pie; the latest outfit dreamed up by intrepid DC musician Dave Mann, followed up by Typefighter, another native DC band.
Preluding the headlining act, Mumpsy, is Dangerosa. The band is comprised of husband and wife team Ave Luke and Will Simpson (what's up with that burgeoning trend of married couples producing beautiful music?) on vocals and guitar respectively. The pair is backed by Mark Goh on bass and Gilberto Cazares on drums.
Dangerosa, which formed in 2008, delivers music that is a little bit here, a little bit there, and a little bit who knows where. Their sound is self-described as an almagamation of 80's and 90's pop, ranchero and experimental noise rock blended into an alt.country and garage rock sound.
Mumpsy, from Orlando, Florida closes out the night with their folk-pop-indie rock sound. Click on over to their website to download their latest album, Mortgaging Our Future for RIght Now, for free.
At $8 a ticket, only the loco, cowardly or distempered indie music fan in the DC area won't post up to this show.
