PLAYLIST - April '09

Whether you frequent live shows of all kinds or simply insist on never missing your favorite bands, you have probably missed one great show, maybe more. Unless you comb through several websites and local papers there is no conceivable way to blanket local venues' lineups to make sure that you're in the know.

Until now.

Have you heard of PLAYLIST Magazine? Launched in March, 2008 by Cindy Marks of Catstone Press, PLAYLIST is a FREE online-only magazine that compiles the calendars of just about every venue you will find in Maryland, Virginia and DC.

The concept sounds simple enough, but Marks makes simple quite effective through email delivery of each month's issue. She also doesn't restrict the content to show listings. Each issue is littered with links to bands and venues, streaming music and video and a couple of short-but-sweet band profiles and interviews.

PLAYLIST is delivered with a consistently strong layout and design for a recognizable look and feel which strongly conveys a feeling of musicianship and creativity.

The content is organized equally well, thankfully, because of the many venues to cover across two states and the District. Navigation to your locale is as simple as clicking the associated link in the table of contents, where venues are listed in alphabetical order.

PLAYLIST doesn't stop there; Marks also makes CD's and free tickets for sweet gigs as much as possible. Considering everything it offers, all for free, there is nothing not to love about PLAYLIST. In fact, every city should have a PLAYLIST as a standard of promotion and information delivery of live acts.
