To explain away a sudden, unintended southern accent during her Tuesday appearance on "The Ellen Degeneres Show," Lauren Graham joked that she must be from somewhere in South Carolina.
But she was really born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised right here in Washington, where her dad worked as a staffer on Capitol Hill.
Word broke last week that Graham, a graduate of Langley High School in Fairfax, has been cast in NBC's upcoming mid-season drama "Parenthood." She replaces Maura Tierney, who had to drop out after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Graham didn't speak too much about her "Parenthood" character Sarah, the divorced mother of a teenage daughter, but the beloved "Gilmore Girls" vet did have Ellen and the audience LOL at tales from her recent six-month stint in Broadway's revival of "Guys and Dolls." Then Ellen tried to scare her with a giant panda.
