Consider the positives and negatives of getting married in a hotel before you book the venue.
Pros
Everything you really need is probably already there. You don’t have to rent tables, chairs, and flatware like you would for an outdoor or beach wedding.
Hotel chefs will usually personalize a menu for a couple. If a couple wants to serve their guests their Uncle Tommy’s famous fettuccine alfredo, the chef may be willing to follow the recipe.
The hotel may provide you with their wedding coordinator which could mean that you won’t have to hire one yourself.
You’ll get discounts on your guests’ hotel rooms.
Your guests don’t have to travel to the venue and you don’t have to pay for transportation. No drinking and driving.
Cons
There may be a minimum that you must spend on food and beverages. Ask about this before you sign a contract.
The hotel may have a list of “approved vendors” which means you might not be able to hire the vendors you have your heart set on. However, this is not always the case.
The ceremony and reception can feel impersonal in a hotel unless you increase the décor the budget.
The hotel may have more than one wedding on their grounds each day, and no bride wants to see another bride on her wedding day. Ask how they handle multiple weddings if they offer them.
