If you’re on a tight budget, read this article to find ways you can trim your wedding costs.

  1. Cut the guest list. This is the absolutely the number one way to cut wedding costs. If you cut 10 guests, you save the cost of the meal per person, a centerpiece for that table, invitations, and more.
  2. Plan your wedding at an already beautiful setting. If you get married in a gorgeous place, you can save a ton of money on décor.
  3. Don’t get married somewhere you’ll have to rent most items such as a beach or outdoor location. If you get married at a hotel or restaurant, they will already have the tables, chairs, linens, and flatware that you need.
  4. Have a brunch reception instead of a dinner reception. You’ll save on entertainment and alcoholic drinks.
  5. Use your ipod or hire a DJ instead of paying for a band.
  6. Skip the champagne toast. Many people don’t drink it, and they won’t even notice that you didn’t have it.
  7. Design your own invitations, buy them off Etsy, or just buy the design and print them yourself.
  8. Serve wine, beer, and a signature cocktail instead of having a full open bar.
  9. Have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday, because many locations will give you a discount on these days since they aren’t as popular as Saturdays.
  10. Don’t give favors at the end of the night. Write guests a note instead.
