Christians know that true peace comes from God. Thankfully, He also gives people intelligence and resources that can help facilitate the peace that comes from knowing one has planned well and is taking care of his/her family financially.
Reflections church in Meridian is hosting a series of financial classes that will give families practical, Biblically sound advice on how to implemement habits that can reduce stress, improve situations and free up more money with which to help others. Chris and Shay Haude will lead participants – anyone from the community is welcome – through the critically acclaimed Financial Peace University by well-recognized author, talk-show host and speaker Dave Ramsey.
The curriculum covers common bugaboos such as investments, insurance, retirement, real estate, college, planning, careers, debt collectors, credit reports and more.
Does it work?
According to Ramsey's Web site, www.daveramsey.com, more than 650,000 families have completed FPU. "On average, they pay off $5,300 in debt and save $2,700 in just 13 weeks," according to the site.
Jumping in
The 13-week program will start at 7 p.m. June 2 at Reflections, located just west of the intersection of Meridian and Ustick roads at 201 W Ustick Rd. The cost is $100, which will cover materials and childcare at the church. Those involved also will have access to discounts on additional Ramsey materials.
