Annette Yeomans had a knack for buying shoes.
According to the picture authorities painted, Yeomans also had a thing for embezzling.
Yeomans, a former bookkeeper, was sentenced Monday to 18 years behind bars for stealing approximately $10 million from her company, San Marcos-based Quality Woodworks. According to authorities, Yeomans used some of the money to buy at least 400 pairs of shoes.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Robert Kearney also ordered Yeomans to repay her former employer, admonishing the 51-year-old woman for her "selfish indulgence."
Yeomans also reportedly used the money she stole for things like luxury trips and gambling.
While some murderers get less sentences, especially given these economic times, it is good to see a judge not hand out a slap on the wrist.
Annette Yeomans will have some long and hard time to think about her actions over the next two decades, and that is a good thing.
