Authorities reported the arrest of a 23-year-old Oceanside man for allegedly raping an intoxicated Cal State San Marcos student last April in a campus residence.

According to police, Tyrone Henry Crawford Jr. surrendered to police voluntarily on Wednesday after a warrant had been issued for his capture. Crawford was to be arraigned on the charges this week.

Crawford, who allegedly raped the intoxicated student in an apartment last April, is facing charges of one count of raping an unconscious person and one count of raping an intoxicated person.

While the alleged victim in this case certainly did not deserve what reportedly took place, they will hopefully learn from this. Placing yourself in that position, having no control over your body, is an open invitation to trouble.

Hopefully administrators and faculty on campus and other schools locally and nationwide share an alleged incident like this with their students.

Parents can also hopefully take a few notes, but most importantly, students need to know how their actions may ultimately end up impacting a situation.
