Alicia Keys appeared on "Late Night With Conan O’Brien" yesterday to promote her role in the film "The Secret Life of Bees."
She revealed to O'Brien that Keys isn't her real last name, "I officially claim Alicia Keys as my name now because it does describe me and who I am," she said. Alicia J. Augello-Cook is her birth name. "But I wasn't born with the name and there came a time where we were really trying to find a good name." While going through a dictionary she considered banana, capital and wild. "Alicia Wild, yeah," she considered. After her mother deemed that it sounded like a stripper name, she then opted for Keys.
O'Brien also coaxed Keys into an impromptu performance of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Do you think it's worthy of a full recording? Check out some other singers who've covered the tune. Who did it best?
