Teachers Sylvia Boorstein, Norman Fischer, Rabbi Jeff Roth, and Rabbi Joanna Katz
The Awakened Heart Project for Contemplative Judaism is organizing a week-long retreat of contemplative meditation at the Santa Sabina Center in San Rafael, CA, November 23 - 29, 2009. Led by world-renowned teachers, it will provide a wonderful opportunity to learn about and promote this practice, and add a new kind of consciousness to your Thanksgiving holiday.
Contemplative Jewish practice is a non-denominational approach to spirituality that can powerfully transform your life. If any of these terms resonate with you, (and they may if you are a practitioner of other types of meditation) listen to Rabbi Roth's podcast, "Effortless Effort" on the website: awareness, concentration, zeal, breathing, pulling vs. pushing, davening, silence, resistance, Torah study, momentary prescence, walking practice, ascension of souls, and L'cha Dodie. I am glad to have found this remarkable educational resource and plan on accessing it whenever I need to escape from the daily grind.
The Awakened Heart Project will be holding upcoming retreats in Mexico and Israel. The only similar practice currently in Israel is Vispana meditation.
The costs for the week are very reasonable, and financial aid is available.
