Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal Moves" Video included 45 degree lean

Michael Jackson's other mind-blowing dance move included some trickery.

Remember the 45 degree lean in Smooth Criminal?

Michael Jackson's signature moon walk depended solely on his skills as a dancer and control.

The dance move in Smooth Criminal music video was a 45 degree lean that was humanly impossible.

But we believed in Michael Jackson and his skills as a dancer.

The secret was in his shoes and in the floor. Michael Jackson leaning to 45 degrees involved cutting a wedge in the soles of his special shoes.

When the time came for Michael Jackson to follow his moonwalk with something equally mind-blowing, the wedge in the heel would attach to a peg extending up from the floor. It only lasts a few seconds, but the effect is perfect.

Smooth Criminal might have been Michael Jackson's ultimate dance video, because of the mind-blowing dance move aided by a simple gimmick.

The video below starts at seven minutes in and gives you a taste of the moonwalk and then leads to the 45 degree lean. Michael Jackson having fun with music video lovers.
