This Christmas ornament is made of 18 carat white gold with over 1,500 diamonds encrusted on the surface surrounded by two red rings made of 188 rubies.
The most expensive Christmas ornament took over a year to make and will be revealed to the public this weekend.
The ornament is valued at nearly $150,000 and is held in safe keeping in a steel case surrounded by 1/2 inch thick laminated glass inside a microwave bubble which sets off the alarm when penetrated.
The most expensive Christmas ornament is the brain child of Mark Hussy, owner of the Hallmark Jewellers family business.
He said:
"It was never about the value of the bauble, we just wanted to do something special for Christmas. It was more about making something unique, but as we researched other amazing baubles we discovered the most expensive one was £26,874.We thought, why not see if we can beat it - but we were bowled over when it was valued at £82,000.I literally started working on it the day after Boxing Day, it really has been a year in the making. Just to give you an idea of the attention spent on it, over 130 hours were taken up just setting the gems in it.
Hussy said he isn't even all that interested in finding a buyer for the world's most expensive Christmas ornament, content to ride the wave of publicity and have a centerpiece for the store's shopping season.
