For a very easy project with lots of room for creativity, try creating a modular shelving unit out of dresser drawers. The image here is just old drawers that have been painted and filled with attractive contact paper (or wallpaper can be used), and arranged on top of each other. They can be fastened together with screws or bolts, but if you are someone that loves to rearrange things often, you might like to leave them loose and change them around occasionally.
