The Areca Palm
There has been lots of research and attention over the past few years about the quality of indoor air.  In many studies, it is found that indoor air quality can be worse that outdoor air quality.  One easy way to affect this is by using plants as natural air purifiers.  Plants have a positive impact on an environment, as long as they are healthy and bug free.   Here is a partial list from the book How To Grow Fresh Air by B. C. Wolverton, that lists the top indoor plants that remove toxins from the air:
1.  Areca Palm (Chrysalidocarpus lutescens)
2.  Lady Palm (Rhapis excelsa)
3.  Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea seifrizii)
4.  Rubber Plant (Ficus robusta)
5.  Dracaena (Dracaena deremensis)
