Many years prior to the “Guitar Hero” video game phenomenon, high schoolers were not found rocking out with a guitar shaped controller in their hands. Teenagers from the 70s and up were forming prestigious rock and roll groups after the bell rang at school. Some of history’s most well-known musicians formed their music careers and ambitions in their high school days; their music still lives on in today’s society. Distinguished bands such as Linkin Park, The Beatles, Maroon 5, and the Barenaked Ladies placed their musical ambitions first and did not let their dreams fall apart after the summer school break.

Nowadays, especially in the Baltimore music scene, the trend of bands forming in high school is more evident than ever.

Forming a band, especially one with your closest buddies, is an escape from the world. Even if a band decides to go their separate ways for whatever reason, music will still be alive in a musician’s heart—and eventually, a new musical ambition usually follows. So, if you have always dreamed of writing and playing music, be ambitious; go out and make your musical dreams come true, no matter what it takes.
