Heaven and the afterlife - How much of our understanding comes from pop culture?

Many Christians (and non-Christians alike) think that the Bible teaches that when people die they go straight to Heaven or Hell for all eternity.  There they encounter pearly gates and St. Peter...or pitchforks and cloven-hooved devils.

But does the Bible actually teach this?  Does it even teach anything remotely like this?

No.  It does not.

What does it teach about Heaven and the afterlife then? This message, given at CharlotteONE: by Methodist Examiner, James-Michael Smith, looks at this very question in more detail.

If you enjoyed the talk and want to hear more like it by various speakers, be sure to check out CharlotteONE: each Tuesday night in uptown Charlotte.  Or follow along with the messages online at www.charlotteone.org/multimedia/audio.php
