There are many cliches that Christians and non-Christians alike have come to believe and pass on to others when it comes to the Bible.  From "Life's Instruction Manual" to "A Love Letter From God", slogans abound on bumper-stickers and Christian t-shirts.  Such simplistic descriptions do very little to help people understand the Bible--in fact, they often have the opposite effect. 

 

In the video below, Methodist Examiner James-Michael Smith, looks at a few commonly-held cliches and why they are actually more harmful than helpful in understanding and interpreting Scripture.
