Like the good examiner I am, I spent my lunch hour with my boss at an EWG discussion launching their latest health report on bottled water. This report, although not as frightening as their other stuff (see Skin Deep) was quite revealing about what is actually in those ubiquitous plastic recyclables.
I won't harp on the fact that plastic water bottles are only recycled 24% of the time, and that they fill up our landfills and our ocean, but instead i want to highlight the most disturbing fact of all... It's not any healthier for you the consumer.
The report checked out ten different companies and found that the bottled water was no better than the water of D.C. tap, and their water is one of the worst around.
That's right... you would be better off drinking the water straight from your tap, and here in the bay area, S.F. specifically, we have some of the best muni water around.
Ok, but there is nothing eco-sexy about water from the tap... not until now...
