The Nashville Predators have a large group of prospects in town this week for the team’s annual Development Camp. 30 players, including all ten of the team’s selections from last month’s Entry Draft are expected to be in attendance at Centennial Sportsplex.

All four of Nashville’s first-round picks from the last three Entry Drafts are expected to participate in the camp. Those players include 2009 11th overall selection Ryan Ellis, 2008 7th overall selection Colin Wilson, 2008 18th overall selection Chet Pickard, and 2007 23rd overall selection Jonathon Blum.

Also expected to attend is Brentwood-native Blake Geoffrion. Geoffrion will be entering his senior season at the University of Wisconsin, where he serves as one of the Badgers team captains.

According to the release from the team:

The purpose of the camp is to educate and direct players in their pro development and conditioning programs, and the week’s events will be presided over by the Predators coaching staff. Strength and Conditioning Coach David Good will lead the scheduled training regimen, which includes a variety of dry-land activities and workouts, on-ice fundamentals work, off-ice testing and team-building activities. The players will also receive instruction on training principles such as sport-specific power and strength enhancement, flexibility and off-ice conditioning.

There will be three on-ice sessions which will be open to the public. The three sessions are:

Wednesday, July 8 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Thursday, July 9 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Saturday, July 11 9:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m.

A lot of eyes will be on the prospects this week. The entire Nashville Hockey Operations, Coaching, and Support Staffs will be there to evaluate the players. The coaching staffs from the Predators minor-league affiliates in Milwaukee and Cincinnati will also be there.
