Mark McGoff, a long-time proponent of the benefits of healthy activity, has been named to the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness.
“I am honored to receive this appointment to a role that could make such a difference in the health of our community,” said McGoff, 68, a member of the Arvada City Council. “I firmly believe that physical fitness is a huge component of the eventual solution to spiraling healthcare costs, and I think our government should do what it can to encourage our citizens to lead active lifestyles.”
The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness is a bipartisan physical activity promotion and advocacy group comprised of approximately 30 governor-appointed members and numerous volunteers representing a wide range of Coloradans. The Council is funded through private donations, registration fees, and merchandise sales. The Council’s mission is to empower lifestyle change in citizens of all ages and abilities through promoting and sponsoring physical activities, and to act as a liaison for the Governor on fitness-related issues.
McGoff is retired from a career as a warden and administrator in the Colorado Department of Corrections. In retirement he has worked as a personal fitness trainer and regularly hikes, snowshoes and cycles.
