November 11 -- Boston native, Hollywood star, and erstwhile Calvin Klein underwear model, Mark Wahlberg, and his Entourage pals teed it up at Los Angeles’ Wilshire Country Club Monday to raise funds for disadvantaged urban kids.
Adrian Grenier is a newbie on the fairways, but that didn’t stop the 33-year-old Entourage hunk from talking some links-style trash.
"We're in competition, so I'm gonna take 'em down," Grenier told ETonline.com, referring to Wahlberg and Entourage cast mates Kevin Dillon and Jerry Ferrara.
Not so fast, Aquaman.
Caught the bug. “[Adrian] literally just started playing, like, five or six months [ago]. It's going to be a good ten years before he gives me a run,” Wahlberg dished to ET. “But he got the bug. I was so happy that he got the bug because all the other guys on the show play and it's a great game."
Wahlberg is serious about his golf. Playing for about 10 years, the 38-year-old, Dorchester, MA-born southpaw can boom 300-yard drives, sports a handicap in the teens, and has a hole-in-one to his credit. Golf Digest actually ranked Wahlberg number nine (tied with Huge Grant) among Hollywood’s top golfers in 2008.
The star of The Departed was not particularly impressed with that rating.
“All the guys in Hollywood stink,” Wahlberg told Florida’s St. Petersburg Times. “They’ve all got fake handicaps.”
Helping kids. Wahlberg is equally resolute about his organization, the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, which works with other groups to help improve the quality of life for inner-city youth.
"I cannot be put in this position and forget about where I came from,” Wahlberg explained to ET. “We're just trying to create opportunities, especially for at-risk youth....We try to create an opportunity for kids...try to to send them to school, try to send them to camp, try to give them positive role models."
The golf at Monday’s tourney to benefit Wahlberg’s foundation may not have been up to par but the eye-candy sure was. Joining the Entourage guys were Mad Men star Jon Hamm, Desperate Housewives hard-body James Denton, and the exquisite Don Cheadle of Hotel Rwanda and Picket Fences fame. And, oh yeah, don’t forget LA Lakers stalwart Jack Nicholson.
Hey, don’t any women play golf in Hollywood?
