Can’t wait to break out that Balloon Boy Halloween costume? Perhaps you're a closet Sarah Palin (or Tina Fey) wannabe? Or maybe your inner Michael Jackson is itching to add sequins to your golf glove and step into a red leather jacket and fedora.

You can be anyone or anything you wish on Halloween, especially at your favorite Boston golf course. Indeed, courses throughout New England are celebrating Halloween with scrambles and more. Gussy yourself and your three buddies up as golf club head covers and cruise to the following tracks for some gruesome golf:

  • Windham Country Club -- Four-person scramble teams tee off in a 9 a.m. shotgun on this 18-hole course in Windham, NH. $75 per player includes golf, cart, prizes, and lunch. Call 603-434-2093.
  • Far Corner Golf Course -- Ferry your foursome over to this 27-hole layout in West Boxboro, MA, for a Halloween 4Some Scramble. Shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., $80 per golfer includes greens fee, cart, prizes, and after-golf cookout. Call 978-352-8300.
  • Merrimack Valley Golf Club -- Whether you golf or not, grab your ghostly garb and set your broom in the direction of this Methuen, MA, course for a Halloween party. The club promises a “family-fun event” from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. that will include a costume contest, doughnuts on strings, scary mask-making, a hole-in-one contest, and games. Call 978-683-7771.
  • Middleton Golf Course -- Foursomes begin at 8 a.m. in a shotgun start for a Halloween Scramble/Shamble on this 18-hole, par-3 course in Middleton, MA. $45 per golf includes golf, prizes for best costumes, and a post-scramble pizza party. Call 978-774-4075.
  • Holly Ridge Golf Club -- Course superintendent, Al Comeau, promises some horrifying holes in his annual Greenkeeper’s Revenge Halloween Scramble. Practice your trick shots and get ready for a 9 a.m. shotgun start at this par-54 course on Cape Cod. $35 per player includes golf, cart, lunch, and prizes. Call 508-428-5577.

Not too keen on swinging a club in your fang-bangin’ True Blood togs? No worries. Remove the stake from your chest and tee it up for some mini-golf -- if you dare -- on two themed miniature golf courses at Spooky World and Nightmare New England. Just 45 minutes up the road from Boston in Litchfield, NH, the huge Halloween Scream Park is at  603-420-8008.

All you need is a suit, tie, and a dumber-than-a-sleeve-of-golf-balls stare to be Michael Scott from The Office? Read about how Steve Carell is taking his comedy stylings to the big screen in the Boston-based golf comedy, Missing Links.
