 Freshly picked Lavender from Lavender Hill Farm on Vashon

This weekend enjoy all things lavender at the 2009 Vashon Island Lavender Festival. Three Vashon lavender farms will be hosting a weekend of food, festivities and fun. There is also a free shuttle service from each ferry terminal that will tour you around to the farms as well as Vashon's main shopping corridor. So catch a ferry to Vashon this weekend for a fun, relaxing and refreshing day in the lavender fields.

Lavender Festival and Farm Tour:

July 11 & 12, 10am - 5pm

$5 gate admission - Covers all 3 farms plus free shuttle service from each ferry. Free for kids or anyone under 18.

Participating Lavender Farms:

Lavender Hill Farm - 10425 SW 238th (map)

A charming and intimate farm above Burton with a breathtaking view over the lavender fields to Quartermaster Harbor and Mount Rainier. Cut your own bunches of lavender, or have them made for you. Enjoy French crepes, vegetarian fare and many other lavender inspired goodies. Tours, wreath making, arts & crafts, penny candy store, plants and many lavender gifts to choose from. Lavender Sisters - 16335 Crescent Drive SW (map)

A beautiful lavender farm with lavender fields overlooking Colvos Passage. Light lavender cuisine, lavender oil distillation and cooking demonstrations, local artisan craft and lavender booths, art, tarot reading, henna tattoos, live music and u-cut lavender. Stay for a picnic in the lavender scented breeze or a take a stroll to the beach. Lavender Sisters festival schedule

Fox Farm - 17232 107th SW (map)

A dreamy lavender farm and perennial garden, with expansive lavender fields and rose-trellised gates closer to the center of the island and town.  Enjoy live music, lavender-inspired lectures, fun kids activities, wreath making, a wandering magician, u-cut lavender and food including lavender ice cream in waffle cones. Free Shuttle Service

Park your car on the mainland and ride the ferry over! Four lavender shuttles will be circulating the island farms throughout the day in 20-30 minute intervals. They will shuttle from each ferry terminal, around to each farm and will include a stop in Vashon's main shopping corridor. Shuttles will meet ferries starting with the 9:15 departures from Fauntleroy and Point Defiance and will meet all ferries up until 1:00pm. Shuttles will return guests to ferries up until the 5:30 boat from the north end and the 5:50 boat from the south end (Tahlequah). Free with $5 Lavender Festival gate admission. More shuttle info
