Two years ago, Duan and Joumana Reese of Kirkwood, MO decided to take a team approach to shedding some extra weight. They joined a gym, started working with a personal trainer and lost a whopping 75 pounds together by that December. In that time, they learned that working out as a couple is an easy way to recharge a relationship, stay healthy and remain motivated to an exercise routine.

Oh and another benefit to working out? According to a study from Indiana University at Bloomington, “Sweating in tandem heightens arousal and intimacy." What's more, couples who joined a fitness program as a pair were more likely to stick with it -- 94 percent did -- than singles. Then again, the Reese's, who've been married 11 years, have probably figured out that little advantage as well!

The couple's successful weight loss inspired them to share their success with others.

“We knew that we couldn’t have done it on our own, but we also realized how expensive it is to have a trainer; most people can’t afford to have one – we could barely afford it!  In addition, Duan travels a lot overseas so it was hard for him to keep up with the workouts.  We started looking on-line for more affordable and convenient ways to work out with a trainer, but couldn’t find anything,” says Joumana. “Because we had seen such amazing results with our trainers we wanted other people to be able to experience such great results, so we decided to start our own website that would offer affordable and convenient workouts, with the help of a personal trainer.”

This is when NUYU was born. NUYU is a website where you and your spouse can access an extensive library of high-quality exercise videos that can help you in your quest to lose weight, tone up, gain muscle and increase flexibility.

According to the site, “these workouts are all on your terms. If you’ve always felt self-conscious in a group exercise class or just want to work out in a personalized one-on-one setting, customized specifically for your goals, this program is for you. Our professionally produced exercise videos bring our online personal trainers directly to you at home or in the gym. Workout programs have been designed for weight loss, toning, strength, endurance and flexibility. With a little experience, you can even create your own custom workouts for specific goals and variety.”

The trainers in these videos aren’t actors. Trainers are certified by some of the top fitness education associations in the U.S., such as the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Aerobics & Fitness Association of America, American Council of Exercise, and American Institute of Fitness Educators. Best of all? They can help you improve your form, thus reducing injuries and helping you maximize your workout results.
