Niche market camera maker Ricoh has unveiled a novel new take on the digital SLR camera format, placing the image sensor in the lens rather than the camera body.
The company argues that doing so allows photographers to get all the benefits of an SLR -- swapable lenses, high image quality -- in a much more compact package.
The GXR will debut next month with two lens choices and a price of about $1,100 for the camera body and a basic 24-72mm lens.
