Only the stone lions remain today at the entrance to Sutro Heights park.

In the far western reaches of San Francisco's Richmond neighborhood lies, Sutro Heights Park.

With connections to colorful local history, offering ocean views, exotic plants and flowers, life sized stone lions and the gate and the occasional coyote early in the morning (see video below) the park can be reached by Muni's 78 Limited, which stops just outside the man entrance to the park at Point Lobos and 48th Avenue.

The park sits just north of Ocean Beach and south of Fort Miley, a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which makes it a great destination in a coastal day hike.
