The Eagles announced on Thursday afternoon that they had traded wide receiver Greg Lewis, a six-year veteran, to New England for undisclosed draft picks in 2009 and 2010.

Signed by the Birds as a rookie free agent out of Illinois in 2003, the 29-year-old Lewis caught 127 passes for 1,699 yards and seven touchdowns in 90 regular-season games. He also had nine receptions for 180 yards and a score in nine playoff games. The TD came in the Eagles' loss to the Pats in Super Bowl 39.

Lewis managed 19 catches this past season, one more in the playoffs.

The move leaves the Eagles with seven wide receivers on their roster -- starters Kevin Curtis and DeSean Jackson, reserves Jason Avant, Hank Baskett and Reggie Brown, and '08 practice squaders Danny Amendola and Shaheer McBride.
