Since I've been in D.C. practically all of the networking I've done has been online. Once you get into the habit of being glued to the computer it's hard to break it.
However, it's always good to get out of the house and meet new people; especially when you work from home so I've decided to start attending a few Meetups.
Meetups from Meetup.com are local networking groups based on interest topics. According to the website there are over 5 million members, 179,000 meetups per month, and 58,936 local groups. With stats like that it shouldn't be hard for anyone to find a group that meets their interests.
I might join a few business related Meetups because I need to schmooze with people who might be interested in my blog consulting services; but the majority of Meetups I join will probably not be related to work.
It won't be easy to pry me away from my netbook but I think the experiences will be worth it.
