With Sarah Palin's resignation from her post as Alaska's Governor, it seems all but obvious that the former vice-presidential candidate will make a run at the presidency in 2012.
What an amazing gift to the Democratic party, who with a 60 seat super-majority in the house, a majority in congress and the presidency, really don't seem to need much help from the Republicans at the moment. Even if she runs on an "I told you Obama wouldn't work out" platform, assuming that the economy doesn't fully recover, she is still so objectionable to so many swing voters that she may not stand a chance in the general election.
On the other hand, what's left of the Republican base will probably nominate her.
So congratulations President Obama, looks like you can continue your work without much worry about the next election cycle.
