The perpetual debates that rage in our minds:

  • Chicken or egg?
  • Boxers or briefs?
  • Good vs. evil.
  • Form vs. function.
  • Mac or PC

The vast number of lawyers use Windows based computers. The smart ones still have Windows XP because if Vista doesn't ruin a practice, it is all but guaranteed to make it difficult. Rather than get into the relative merits of the two systems, I asked some practicing attorneys what they thought:

Bart Herron, an Oregon attorney, also prefers the familiarity of Windows based systems. To him, the learning curve of a new OS would cut into the time he spends concentrating on his clients.

I personally prefer the Mac platform, but I do a lot of web and graphics intensive work.

I would like to hear from other practicing attorneys about their preferences, and i will put the findings into a future article.
