Donnie Klang is an amazing performer whose talent  was recognized nationally when he landed a solo deal with Bad Boy records on
"Making the Band". He is now a household name, and is one of the few recording artists who hasn't let fame turn him into a different person. Today, Donnie shares what he thinks is beautiful, and what he thinks can ruin a person's appearance.

Gabrielle: You see a woman walk by. What do you notice first?

Donnie: Hmmm, Well, which way was she walking?

Let’s say both ways

Well, obviously if she was walking away, I guess that’s just obvious. But if she was walking towards me, I would notice her eyes first. They don’t even have to be light eyes, because sometimes you see girls with brown eyes and they have that glow. They have something you see in their eyes. They’re happy, and just living life, and you can just tell in their eyes.

Worst thing a girl can do for her appearance?

Smoke

How important are looks vs. personality?

Looks are important from that first walking by, but then personality is what gives the relationship substance. So personality really outweighs looks, because you have to be compatible. I’d rather be with an OK looking girl and we get along great and have the best time, than be with a good looking girl that’s just one of those girls whose into material things and we don’t get along, doesn’t like my music. Definitely personality.

Successful, strong women. Turn on or turn off?

I like that, but I like when it doesn’t get to their head. They don’t use that “I’m too good for somebody”. I like when they are successful and strong and they want a man that’s also successful and strong, and they don’t want to be so dominant. They look out for themselves, but they want someone who’s as equally hard working and into what they do.

Total deal-breakers?

Besides smoking, definitely if I see her acting too conceded, or too into shopping or money and material things, and not down to earth, that would be a total dealbreaker,

What is your ideal date?

I love the beach, so a nice Italian restaurant on the beach, and be able to go onto the beach after with some drinks, start a little fire and talk.

Do you prefer women wearing makeup, or going natural?

Depends on occasion and situation. If we’re just relaxing at home and watching a movie or something, I would hope that they’re not all dolled up, but we are going to a red carpet event, I would hope she would get done up nice, but not too overdone.

Has your taste in women changed throughout the years?

Yes, absolutely. Just because of dealing with ex’s, I might meet a girl that looks similar to them, and then I’m like “uh oh, is this girl going to have the same issues that the other girl had.” I guess taste changes with growing up, and maturing and experience and dealing with things. Now I’m not too easy and too quick to open up to a girl, it kind of takes a little more time. I guess that’s the difference between me being 24 years old and me 16 and my first puppy-love relationships. I’ve had heartbreak, and I’ve broken girls hearts, and I guess you just learn. Now I know before I jump into anything to get to know the girl first, and really get to know each other. Make sure she knows me inside and out.

Did you ever have a type?

Usually brunettes. I’m still more a brunette guy, but I love girls so I’m not going to say I wouldn’t like a blonde. But growing up, I was always a brunette guy. All of my first girlfriends were brunettes, and short.

Has your sense of style changed throughout the year?

Definitely. I went through the whole Abercrombie phase, and I still wear some Abercrombie. Then I went through the whole sporty phase. Then when I got on the show “Making the Band”, and got into the public eye, I went through the whole making sure I was dressed up all the time. Now I’m just kind of back to the sweatpants, jordans, and a tank top and just going. Feeling relaxed while I’m traveling.

Anything you’d like to say to readers?

Anybody reading this, if you think you’re not beautiful, it’s probably from something you’ve dealt with, or from a guy that treated you bad or put you down a lot. Growing up with a single mom, and seeing the things she went through trying to date and having a son growing up. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if someone is not going to be with you because they don’t think you’re beautiful, then you shouldn’t want to be with them in the first place. That’s just shallow, and you don’t need that. Don’t rush things. If your 55 years old right now, there’s always the chance to find somebody. 55 is the new 35, and 35 is the new 21-everyone is staying young at heart.

Be sure to pick up Donnie’s current album, Just A Rolling Stone, out in stores now! (great music to have on a date!)
