You might have seen Amanda in the hit movie, Center Stage, where she plays the female lead in the dramatic and inspiration ballet film. Now, Amanda is a star in the hit Lifetime movie, Sorority Wars, alongside Lucy Hale and Chelan Simmons. In this Interview, Amanda talks about beauty, ballet, and her character Gwen.

What is your daily beauty regimen?

Amanda: My daily beauty regimen is pretty simple. I wash my face twice a day (in the morning and at night before bed) and moisturize like crazy. I use very basic over the counter products that I have been using for years.

If it isn't necessary I would rather not subject my skin to too much, so if I don't have anything special to do for the day, I try not to wear any make up.

Is it any different when filming?

Amanda: The only thing that is different when I film is that my skin sometimes has a reaction to all of the make up I have to wear. I don't use much make up in my everyday life so when it gets caked on for work my skin can sometimes get angry. It often gets dry when I film so if there is a major difference in my regimen it is probably that I moisturize even more frequently and occasionally use moisturizing or purifying masks. I like and use the beauty line Jurlique. They have great masks. Everything they make is derived from plants and completely organic so it is very clean and natural on my skin.

What is your fitness regimen?

Amanda: Because I danced ballet for so many years my body (and my soul) still crave it. I take ballet class as often as possible - up to 5 times a week and try to go to the gym on the days that I don't take class. I also do a floor barre/pilates mat class almost everyday. The other thing that keeps me active is my 6 year old cockapoo (cocker spaniel & poodle mix) Rupert. Even if I don't feel like exercising he still needs to get his energy fix, so no matter what I have a few decent walks every day.

What are your favorite products?

Amanda: I do have a handful of products that I can't live without. However, for some reason, everything I love always seems to get discontinued! The one thing that has remained constant for me since I can remember has been Cetaphil face wash. It is so gentle, no chemicals or perfume and I can't go a day without using it. Another thing I don't live without is chapstick. My lips get dry very easily but I'm allergic to a lot of the chemicals in regular chapstick and lipstick. The product that has worked best for me is a Bare Escentuals Lip Balm called First Base. But I think it has been discontinued! I bought about 10 of them that i am squirreling away. Other than that, all of my cleansers and masks are Jurlique. As far as make up goes, my make up bag is a mish-mosh of different brands and things - bobbi brown and laura mercier make the best color palettes that I have found for my skin.

I like to go natural and organic with my hair products as well if I can. All of my shampoo and conditioner is organic and I don't own hairspray or gel.

What is the best beauty advice you've been given?

Amanda: The best beauty advice I have ever gotten is from my mother who always told me (and sometimes begged me) to wear sunscreen.

What is the worst beauty advice you've taken and regretted?

Amanda: The worst beauty advice that I have ever taken has been from people who have told me that sunscreen isn't necessary. NOT TRUE!

Can you tell me about your character in Sorority Wars?

Amanda: My character in SORORITY WARS was named Gwen Nelson. She was considered the 'mean girl' of the film. Gwen is incredibly driven and focused on what she wants no matter who she steps on to get it. A lot of who Gwen was was because of her mother (played by Faith Ford) who was a cut throat socialite and expected her daughter to follow in her seemingly perfect footsteps. I believe underneath the facade that Gwen put up, she was a decent person and probably very insecure. She redeems herself in the end of the film when she realizes that sometimes the things you consider to be the most important in life really aren't as dire as you might have thought.

Do you have anything in common with her?

Amanda: I think everyone has an inner mean girl. Everyone has thoughts that they know they maybe shouldn't share with anyone else - Gwen just says them. It was a lot of fun playing a role like this - getting to just tell it like it is. Another way that I can relate to Gwen is her drive. Obviously we are driven for different reasons and for different things, but to be a dancer and an actor on a professional level requires dedication and perseverance.

Who would you love to work with again?

Amanda: I have been really lucky to work with amazing casts and crew. There honestly isn't anyone that I have come across in my acting career who I wouldn't want to work with again. Recently, I shot a film in Australia called MAO'S LAST DANCER, directed by Bruce Beresford. That was really special.

Do you have a message for my readers?

Amanda: I believe (and I know that this might sound cliche) that self confidence translates to beauty. What a person feels within themselves and about themselves radiates from them. Trust me, I have worked with people both men and women who are not what most would consider conventionally attractive, but who exude such a magnetism about them that people are compelled to watch them on stage or screen.

Regarding beauty, less is best. Looking clean, simple and natural is so much more beautiful than an inch of foundation gooped on your face and over-processed hair. My thoughts on beauty and food are very similar - the more natural the better.
