You may have seen Laura Seay in the hit comedy Superbad, but what you might not know is how she maintains such a gorgeous complexion, and stunning blonde locks! In this exclusive interview, Laura spills all of her beauty secrets!
What is your daily beauty regimen?
Laura: I wash my face every morning with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. This stuff is fantastic and leaves my fair skin soft and even. Its affordability is a definite plus, as it can be found at any drugstore. I have been fortunate to have acne free skin for most of my life, but for those days that my chin decides to grant me with a new family of zits, I switch to Murad’s line of acne products. I also use Kinerase ‘Under Eye Rescue’ during the day under any eye makeup I might wear. Other than that, I try to avoid foundations or concealers and keep things more natural with Stila’s sheer color tinted moisturizer with SPF 15. Suncreen is a must for my fair skin. In the evening I make sure to wash again with the Cetaphil cleanser, and as matronly as it sounds, get at least nine hours of sleep.
Is it any different when filming?
Laura: Honestly, I don’t change my habits much during shooting. Everything remains basically the same except I pay more attention to moisturizing and maybe will wash my face more rigorously to remove makeup from the shoot. Olay moisturizing products work well for me.
Do you wear makeup when not filming, or do you prefer to go natural?
Laura: The only makeup I tend to wear is on and/or around my eyes. Otherwise I stay clean faced with a touch of NARS blush for color. I also never leave the house without BLINC Kiss Me Mascara. They’ll send me a check for that plug right?
In your opinion, what makes someone beautiful?
Laura: Uniqueness and a strong sense of themselves. I really dig people who have something a bit different about them and stand behind it confidently. Some of the most beautiful people in history were actually kind of odd looking. What made them stunning wasn’t an effort to hide their distinctive traits, but to showcase them. That confidence is what creates intrigue and beauty. Not the perfect nose or a size 2 waistline. They had an inner depth that elevated their whole personage.
Who is your personal beauty icon?
Laura: I love Katharine Hepburn because she really worked the trousers when few other women were. She had such strength about her and she didn’t place limits on herself. I have always been a tom boy at heart so style wise I tend to be attracted to the Hepburn’s and the Diane Keaton’s of the world.
Do you ever have mornings where you wake up and just don't feel beautiful? If so, what do you do to make yourself feel better?
Laura: Of course I do. When this happens, I wear an unusual hat. Nothing too crazy, it’s usually a vintage piece. There is something about a hat that always feels a little costumeee, so it allows me to take myself less seriously. Plus you are almost guaranteed to get a few “I like your hat” comments that day…and I’m into that.
Do you have a message to my readers about beauty/self confidence?
Laura: This is the theatre student in me speaking, but your body is an instrument. This is what you’ve got, so work with it. If you think more about all the things your body can do, and less about what it looks like, it’s not difficult to appreciate it. Treat yourself with respect and others will do the same. It’s all common sense really, and is sometimes easier said than done, but the power of your own mind is a striking thing. So use it.
