Every now and again I stumble across a magnificent line while searching the web for a product. Case in point, I was recently searching for sandalwood soap and my search took me to L'Occitane's website. I fell in love with their story behind the line and once I recieved my products it reinforced my love for the line. France not only turns out some of the most beautiful women but the most beautiful fragrances and body/skincare as well.
An online advertisement for L'Occitane:
Taken from L'Occitane's website "About Us":
The story of L'OCCITANE begins in 1976, in the hills of Haute-Provence… a region of southern France that lies between the Alps and the Mediterranean. Here, Olivier Baussan, the founder of L'OCCITANE, was born. For over thirty years, the fields of Provence and the traditions and techniques of this unspoiled land have been the secret and inspiration behind his beauty products. Even today, all of our products are developed and produced here, in the small Provençal town of Manosque.
L'OCCITANE has drawn inspiration from Mediterranean art de vivre and traditional Provencal techniques to create natural beauty products devoted to well-being and the pleasure of taking care of oneself. Nurtured by encounters and journeys, the brand has grown and developed. While it continues to focus on authentic products, it also chooses to work with committed producers who set rigorous standards. There is a story behind all of our products, most often related to the land of Provence: an ancient technique (essential oils), an AOC controlled-origin label (lavender, olive), a forgotten traditional cultivation (almond) or, as in Burkina Faso, Africa, a sustainable development program (shea butter).
“The sun, the products of the soil and a love of nature are the essence of my Provence. It is this essence I want to share with the world. It is what inspired me to create L'OCCITANE."
- Olivier Baussan-Founder of L'Occitane.
They use natural ingredients, do not test on animals and offer certified organic products. Their products include those for just men, body and hands, bath and shower, hair care and fragrances. Most of L'Occitane's packaging features braille for the visually impaired.
