Sairam Suresh didn't have to say much to sell me on his website, FlipClips, last weekend: "They're flipbooks made from home movies," he told me at Sunday's Unique LA event, and then he handed me one of the bound, finger-sized volumes.  One flip, and a small child in a bear costume danced over its pages.  FlipClip users can upload any video shorter than thirty seconds on Suresh's site and receive a flipbook version of it for as little as $8.99.  My good friend Steve Katz and I were so impressed by the idea's simplicity and stellar gift potential that we may have actually lauded him with the word "ingenious" four or five times.  That clip of your girlfriend finishing her marathon would make a way thoughtful Valentine's present.  That shot of you sky-diving would be a great conversation starter for the coffee table.  A bridesmaid could hand out flip-books of a couple's first kiss at their wedding.  Affordable, novel, and a clever way to utilize those ten-second clips you took on your digital camera and don't know what to do with, FlipClips' books come in a variety of sizes and require no minimum order (they are discounted in bulk, though, which makes them fairly economic as party favors, invitations, or holiday cards.)  As far as I'm concerned, Suresh's little wonders win the prize for a gift they'll never see coming.
