When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrived on the Red Carpet of the 2009 Golden Globe Awards -- the party finally got started! For fans of the most glamorous Hollywood couple since Gable and Lombard or Liz and Dick -- Brangelina represent the unattainable glamour of old Hollywood while demonstrating a down-to-earth generosity rarely seen by movie stars. This combination has made them a fascinating couple to watch on and off screen.
But our only access to these stars is through the press. So when they dissed Ryan Seacrest and did not grant the popular e! TV host an interview -- they in fact dissed us. Arriving in the final 20 minutes of the red carpet festivities -- millions of fans (myself included) had been waiting hours to see them up close, hear them talk about their nominations and what designers they chose to wear, etc. When Brad and Angie blew Ryan off -- they blew us off and it was a real heartbreak.
The PR purpose of the Red Carpet event is for stars to be visible, engage fans, and get them excited about who they are and what they are doing. In this situation, the audience and fans are who the stars should be focused on getting in front of -- regardless of their personal feelings for the network or host. Look into the camera at the fans and give 'em all you've got!
