File it under 'Didn't See This One Coming', but apparently Kyle McLachlan wants to reprise his signature role, as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper from ABC's Twin Peaks, in a series of five-minute webisodes.
Who can blame him, really. Short of his Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives stints, the man hasn't been been burning up the Hollywood gossip pages. He could use a return to the Great Northern.
...and, after all, he is, was, and always will be Coop.
According to WENN, and reposted on IMDb, MacLachlan is 'desperate' to bring Coop back from the Black Lodge. And it shouldn't be terribly difficult to pull off. Even though Peaks co-creator David Lynch is apparently devoting all his time to transcendental meditaion (??), Mark Frost (the real brains behind the outift) is certainly available. And so is pretty much the entire cast, with the exception of Jack Nance (Pete) who passed away in 1996. What a colossal squandering of talent those folks endured, by the way. Some of the greatest acting on television, and McLachlan is the only one who is (marginally) a household name today. There's no accounting for taste.
So anyway...yes, it's true. McLachlan wants to bring back Twin Peaks via webisode. (Hey, it's working for The Office.) While admitting himself that the idea is 'crazy', he seems serious about it. And it could be really fun.
Mmmmm....damn fine coffee. And hot!
