Late yesterday afternoon I was sifting through mailers for facial rejuvenation creams, financial abundance seminars, joint pain remedies and so forth when my daughter walked through the door, Express bag in hand.
She pulled out a yummy off-white leather jacket that she'd just bought on sale for $50 at the chain's Santa Rosa Mall store. It was marked down from $299.99, and that price wasn't just slapped on to make it look like a heckuva deal. My daughter had passed on it at the original price a while back. She came into the store yesterday, and snapped up the last of the jackets. Sorry.
But after she sped down the hall, cell phone in hand so she could make plans for the evening, a little black and white postcard caught my eye—which brings me to the real topic of this article. The card was from The Education Foundation of Cotati and Rohnert Park, and it announced the First Annual Rohnert Park Dog Faire coming up Sat., May 30, 2009, at Robert's Lake from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The affair will have a kids' area, plenty of vendors, opportunities to adopt a furry friend, dog games and demonstrations by the Gold Coast Flyers Flyball Team, The Nor Cal APBGT Coalition Weight Pulling Team, Pawsitive Results Crittter Academy Rally Obedience and Agility, and the Rohnert Park K-9 Unit.
There will also be three contests: trick, dog fashion and owner-dog look-alike. To participate in those, call 707-665-9575 or e-mail mikemondeau@yahoo.com.
The mission of the Foundation is to encourage and support educational projects of merit within the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District.
