I ran out to make a deposit at Exchange Bank on Old Redwood Highway in Cotati on Sunday even though I knew the sun would be reflecting on the ATM screen, making the task darn near impossible. I also knew the funds would be credited sooner if I waited to deposit the check in person Monday.
But when I have to get something off my desk, I have to get it off my desk. It must be a form of OCD.
Afer the machine inhaled the deposit, I poked around and found that Knimble, at the corner of Old Red and La Plaza,, was open. Nothing hanging on the sidewalk rack grabbed me, but inside, I found a trove of appealing clothing, accessories, knick knacks—even flower-painted trowels and tape measures.
Knimble's clothing is a mix of reasonably priced new and used fare. I almost bought a never-worn vintage kimono for $45, but the one I liked was a bit snug. I did find a white T made of bamboo fiber and organic cotton for $16.99 and two brand new items that had languished at other boutiques: a Simply Flawless v-neck black sweater marked down from $52 to $12.50 and a brass-colored v-neck by Topin for $13 (original price not given).
Next time I need a pair of jeans, I'll check the scores of dungarees here before paying full price elsewhere. And, next time I drop in there, maybe I'll snap a good picture of the trowels or the little basket of shoes on sale for $2.99 a pair by the door, that is if I can go at a time when that ole sun isn't blazing through the window at my back, making the shot, well, darn near impossible to see.
