Compete for the top prize and the opportunity to perform at Artscape
The Chick Webb Jazz Combo Competition, presented by MECU is seeking talented musicians to honor the legacy of jazz pioneer William Henry Webb. The second annual competition is open to local and regional jazz trios, quartets and quintets.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, April 30. The competition is open to jazz combos from Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties in Northern Virginia or Adams, Chester, Franklin and Lancaster counties in Southern Pennsylvania. Applications can be completed online at www.artscape.org.
Semifinalists will compete for a $1,000 cash prize and opportunities for exposure. Selected bands will perform before an eager audience and noted judges during Artscape on July 18 from 3 6 p.m. Admission to the show is free and open to the public. Artscape, America’s takes place July 17 and 18, from noon to 10 p.m. and July 19, from noon to 8 p.m.
