The Perlman Music Program on Shelter Island is one of the Hampton's little known treasures. Itzhak Perman himself heads up the faculty at this school on Shelter Island, where student musicians of rare and special talent come to perform and learn from today's most gifted musicians.  Musical performances are scheduled throughout the Hamptons, the North Fork and Shelter Island where members of the public are treated to the sounds of violin, viola, cello, bass, piano and voice.

Performances on Shelter Island beginning tonight

The public will be treated to "Works in Progress" concerts at the Shelter Island campus Performing tonite and July 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 30, 31 and August 1, 2009 at 7:30 p.m., these concerts are free and open to the public.

Masterclasses are held on August 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21,2009 at 7 p.m. at the Shelter Island campus. These are also free and open to the public.

Hamptons performances July 25th and August 14th

The Perlman Music Program String Orchestra and Chorus are performing at The Jewish Center of the Hamptons on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 8:00 PM, featuring Maestros Itzhak Perlman and Patrick Romano conducting the PMP Orchestra and Chorus.

The Perlman Music Program’s Faculty and Student Tutti Suonare Chamber Music Concert will take place Friday, August 14, 2009 7:00 PM at the Old Whalers Church in Sag Harbor.  This Chamber Music Concert will feature PMP's students as well as world class teaching artists, Paul Katz, Merry Peckham, Itzhak Perlman, Roger Tapping, Don Weilerstein, and Vivian Hornik Weilerstein. This event is being billed as part of the 15th anniversary benefit celebration weekend for the program. Tickets are only $25.

Performances on the North Fork

There is a concert at Greenport High School on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 7 p.m. For tickets call 631-548-1060. On Thursday, July 30, 2009 there will be a concert at Duckwalk Vineyards in Southold. For tickets,  call 631-765-3500.

Itzhak Perlman performance Saturday, August 15th

The 15th anniversary benefit at a waterfront residence in Sag Harbor will feature perfomances by Itzhak Perlman, returning alumni, the PMP chorus and a special Doo-Wop performance by Itzhak and a surprise guest. The string orchestra will also debut, under Maestro Perlman's baton, John Williams' piece "Air and Simple Gifts" composed for the 2009 Presidential inauguration. For information call 212-877-5045.

The summer programs at the Perlman Music Program are intensive and year-round mentoring is also offered at the school. International study or performance is offered to students on occasion. Scholarships are available.
