Josh Horton, lead singer of the hugely popular Long Island band Big Suga, created Rock the Harvest last year. Today, dancing to the live music of six Long Island bands in the fields overlooking the vineyard while sampling local wines, has become one of THE best ways to experience the North Fork in fall. And the icing on the cake is that this year, a portion of the proceeds will help fund one of the East End's most crucial charities: The Retreat Domestic Violence Services.

Headliners include: Big Suga, Kerry Kearney Band, Miles to Dayton, Big River Ransom, High and Might Brass Band, and The Nancy Atlas Project. These bands can be heard at the Big Suga Productions profile page on myspace. Very cool. The bands are known for high energy performances so what can be heard online is only a fraction of the experience.

Rock the Harvest runs from noon until 6:00 pm. Admission is only $10 for ages 12 - 20, and $20 for those 21 and over. Children under 12 are free. Like any great North Fork event, this one attracts people of all ages. The rain date is October 3rd.

People are welcome to bring beach chairs and a picnic lunch. Food and beverages will also be available for sale on site. If Big Suga alone lives up to its usual highly charged performance style, the event will be memorable.
